The big question would be whether they could take the weight without cracking prematurely?

I would strongly advise against it as they are not load rated for a 2.2 ton tank they are more than likely to crack. I fitted X6 alloys to mine just need spigot rings for the front wheels as the pcd is slightly different. Got mine for sale if interested.
Why are you wanting to put M3 wheels on?
