Well this is a hard one, a failed glow plug relay (in the Ebox on an e53) would cause a non start......

Also new code 96 egs can engine speed but can't find anything on that? Would that tie in with duff battery?

Possibly, worth a battery disconnect for 20mins...brown lead only needed off....

So fault was coming up as crank sensor so changes that for a febi one still wouldn't start dead battery, charged battery took the recently changed camshaft sensor off and swapped with old one (I keep all old sensors for some strange reason) battery died again charged, car started and would idle normally bit as soon as you gave it any revs it died and got transfailsafe new battery was purchased. Had a gut feeling and took the old crank shaft sensor back with me and fitted it before trying the battery and boom works perfectly so gotta get a refund on the battery
