gearbox noise - something or nothing?

thanks - yes the noise certainly does seem to be coming from that area and we will check the rest once we can get in behind the radiator although coolant levels and coolant performance seem fine for now. If that all proves ok once we go deeper then I reckon he'll need to take it to a garage to have them listen to the noise and see if they think it's the box or not

as it happens, matey didn't want to wait 'til the weekend for us to have another look so he took it to a local garage on Thursday - They have diagnosed bearing wear on viscous fan - going in at the end of next week to have the viscous fan replaced
