Out of interest, does this prop shaft issue effect the 40d’s made in 2010? According to bmw mine doesn’t have any outstanding recalls but after reading the above, I might get checked assuming my car is part of the dodgy batch.

It wont show on recalls as it was a Quality Enhancement

Just to add, this is actually a recall, not a quality enhancement - the letter from BMW arrived today in an envelope edged with red and marked clearly MOTOR VEHICLE RECALL NOTICE. The propshafts on these cars need to be changed - so please contact your dealer if you own an E70 to check if it one of those affected. The earlier issue was apparently a QE and allegedly not the same as this one............
Happy to take a photo of the recall notice.........

So do we have to take it back to bmw even if we have had the propshaft changed?

I guess you don’t HAVE to do anything......it’s your car, your call.......I know what I would do, at least call in at the dealers and check, its a free repair anyway. And its not a QE this time........

Interesting as the DVSA recall site doesn’t list anything yet.

Hi
I've had the same letter today, even though the car went in for the check / recall in December and so the local dealer should have in theory recorded this fact.
So I wonder what has changed as like you I thought the check had been done and now I am questioning whether there is a further problem with it.
Anyhow looks like it my cars going back in for them to check again.
