M50d Now Picked Up :-)
Re: Bored of the Wait
Fingers crossed they don’t make too much of a mess with it before hand over. I’ll cope with it until I can get booked into a detailer.
Factory collection is a no go, these are made in the states!

Re: Bored of the Wait
You mentioned it was on the boat from Germany though, is that not going via the factory there then?

Re: Bored of the Wait
Ah ok. I think it only gets as far as the port in Germany on route from the states.
Re: Bored of the Wait
My ceramic coating after 10 months has done a fantastic job of keeping the swirl marks off bearing in mind how often I wash it.
Carbon Black is a bugger to keep clean this time of year especially the rear >:(

That’s good to hear. I think it’s moved to a must do!
I’m just back from the dealers and have seen the beast. I popped into the workshop and they’re fitting the m performance parts already. Even fairly dirty in the workshop it looks awesome. Looking good for a Wednesday onwards pick up! Whoop.

Shipped from US to Bremerhaven then to UK. Picking up from the BMW VPC at Thorne ought to be an option though.

I got mine detailed (ceramic coating like others) before it left the dealers, and I can recommend doing so. Detailer was allowed in to work on it at the Dealer's premises.

Where does the polish damage occur on the new car? I would want to catch it before anyone with a rag gets to it.
My Porsche was delivered to me un-touched, which was lovely as it had / has 0 swirl marks as I had it protected straight from the dealer.

Re: Bored of the Wait
I would suggest the Dealer because they are the ones removing the protective films etc.
Thorne only repair damage caused in transit - like the bonnet of my X6 which appeared to have been hit by an incontinent seagull! The repair is only visible under IR light due to the difference in the clear coat. Colour is spot on.

Re: Bored of the Wait
Collection booked for Friday and Ceramic coating etc booked for the first week in March. I’m going to risk the dealer polish and get the guys to sort it out in March. Some may say I’m crazy, but as least it will look good (if not exactly perfect) for collection day.
Re: Bored of the Wait
It’s the big day tomorrow. Whoop. ::)
Re: Bored of the Wait
Good luck and enjoy the day.
Looks as though you will have good weather for it as well.
PERFECT!
P.S. Don't forget those all important pictures

Re: Bored of the Wait
Thanks folks, i’ll be like a kid at Christmas tonight! I’ll get some pics tomorrow before our lovely weather spoils the shine! Full detail and coating booked in for the 19th of Feb now so better pics after that.
Spec is a reasonably standard Carbon Black with M Sport Plus package, black leather and the front splitter, rear spoiler and rear diffuser for now. Saying reasonably standard on an M50d is still a pretty nicely spec’d car though.
I did have a last minute drama with the insurance. My current insurers said I had to cancel and start a new policy to the tune of £2500 i’ve Told them to do one and got it elsewhere £600, unfortunately I needed to get a tracker fitted to get it to that but i’ve Managed to get that sorted in time for pickup tomorrow. Phew...
