I'm 20mins away. If you're serious about the car I can try and view it on the weekend.

Thanks for the offer! I've got my eye on one in Mansfield at the moment so trying to figure out how I can get over there to see it.

I bought my Le-Mans solely on a advert on Ebay but must admit i had been following the seller for a couple of years,my X5 came up for sale back March if i recall and i paid a deposit that day without ever seeing it and transferred the whole amount across next morning and still without seeing it.

Had to take the train up North and was met by the seller at the station, when i went to the carpark i knew i had bought a winner and the rest is history as they,of course this was just pure gut feeling and it was so strong that i went with it,possibly if i had shopped around i may have found a slightly cheaper one,but certainly not in the rare condition that mine was in and the impeccable service history as well.

Thus far this year its cost me £15 for a puncture,£2 for a bulb and £25 for a drivers door carrier, the 1st 2 items could and can go wrong with any car,the latter door carrier was not a major problem either.

Oil burner with 85k mileage and full service history and in mind blowing condition had too be a winner in my mind.

The trouble with agreeing a deal before seeing it and with flying with the intention of driving home is it puts pressure on you to buy and put up with faults you might not otherwise.  I went all over the UK looking for a car once and it was an elightening but awful experience despite me getting loads of information from the sellers beforehand.

It it was as diesel you were after we're considering changing ours (but are still undecided).

Hopefully I've found a decent one that I'm going to collect on Sunday.

2005 4.4 Sport Exclusive, 59k miles, cinnamon interior

I started looking at a BMW warranty as well just to ensure that nothing wallet emptying/catastrophic goes wrong in the first year. They're asking for ~£90/month which I'm thinking of taking. Paying monthly means the cost won't increase whereas paying yearly it would, is that correct?

tsinc I would probably take the gamble on a 59k mile car and stick a £100 away in a savings account rather than buy a warranty.
Or get a good rate credit card, whatever you choose GOODLUCK

Hi all

Just registered here and am hijacking this thread to say I am also looking for an E53 but will consider any with less than 100k miles. I'd ideally like one in black but will consider other colours if they're mint.

Glad to see you found one tsinc, I hope it lives up to expectations!

So the X5 I was due to collect tomorrow has apparently failed an MOT today for various reasons…including a head gasket leak. Since when did an MOT test include compression test/anything to do with the engine aside from emissions?

So back to the drawing board it is for another 4.4!

Could have been a very obvious leak of oil or coolant so visible to the tester?  I can't see anything that covers it specifically in the MOT book.

He said he's going to look in to it so I guess I'll wait and see. I won't wait around for it though so back on the lookout.

How long does it take for an MOT to be visible via the online system? Part of me is thinking something dodgy is going on so I've swerved a lemon, only time will tell!

Are 4.8's worth considering if I was looking at 4.4s? I assume they have slightly higher running costs but are there any glaring issues with those? I've read about the air suspension being problematic on a lot of cars.

I would have expected a valid MOT to appear almost instantly?

So do I, which makes me think it hasn't been MOT'd and something fishy has gone on!

I am 99% sure I am aware of ad for the car being discussed....a Sport exclusive midea.

I have not seen the car in the metal or engaged with the seller.

I do not believe a head gaslet to be an MOT fail.

I have not heard of an N62 4.4i having a head gasket failure.

I am suprised to hear of such a failure and especially at a low mileage.

I am not stating anything wrong going on here, however some may feel that stating a car had an alleged head gasket failure would put a buyer off. If I was a seller and wanted to sell car to someone else I would simply tell the truth & say just that.

If mileage is under 60k then a Mondial bmw warranty is far cheaper..It can also be kept up at the lower price once mileage is over 60k.To avoid the hike in price for cars over 60k miles you must pay monthly and keep history up.

Looks to be £91-99 per month for an X5 with under 60k miles on it.

Managed to find a lovely looking 4.8 with under 60k miles on it.

Anyone in the SW18 area?  :)) Looks and sounds in great condition, as did the last one, but a 450 mile round trip for a lemon would drive me nuts!
