Yes standard ! but i think most people get rid as they prefer cup holders as apposed to a pretty useless coin holder
As for the op if you have kids just let one sit in the pasenger seat for a while and do a few macy d's drive through's the hole will soon get clogged up with spilled coca cola and bits of chips etc
..... failing that just do as the others have said and put a small cover piece over where the hole is and job done.
