At any point has pressing the button changed the message on the screen?

I think it should change from "activate phone" to "bluetooth pairing"

When you select telephone from the main menu does nothing happen then as well?

There are quite a few threads on Troubleshooting the Bluetooth module. Start with the simple checks like selecting the option "telephone" on the main screen. What happens when you do this? If it says "activate phone" then go through the process of pressing the talking head for a few seconds above the cradle while selecting position 2 on the ignition - the "activate phone" message should then change to "bluetooth pairing". If it doesn't, you could check the connection to the BT module in the boot (check other threads for info). Next step is disconnect the battery and reconnect and try again.
There are furthe roptions like checking under the cradle if any connectors or wires have come loose (again, check other threads).
If you've done all this and nothing helps then the module is duff. But if you've just bought, surely you should be taking it back to the dealer and telling them to sort it for you??

I think I'll get it checked under the warranty. on screen telephone button does nowt neither does the cradle button. Checked the wiring and that all looks good.

Sounds the best idea.
When you select telephone you should at least have activate phone option appear on the screen.

If under warranty get them to resolve the issues but you can check if the wire is connected to the switch underneath!

The PDC's can be a problem too - get up close to them in the morning and check they click. If one doesn't or clicks 'different' to the others, it could be at fault. Again, let them sort it under warranty! Wet weather can make them play up too...

But do get out there and get familiar with your new car - congrats buddy!

it would have been if I got the car back from the paint shop 4 months ago when it was due to come back.....

Plan was to get it on the road for the kit show at Stoneleigh at the start of may - thats unlikely now.
