Colin,

X6 more expensive and less room in rear with the sloping back. Looks mean from the front but not as practical as a lovely, spanking, fully loaded X5

LOL that's pretty much what happened to me  ::)

"Mrs Kered" was popping into the dealer during the time she was doing the deal for her new X3, I was with her, so naturally I just had to go into the showroom to see what they had, I mean it would have been rude not to  :P

So sitting there was a lovely X5 M-Sport, which got me thinking. Then the day came that she was back at the dealer collecting her new car, again, I was with her. This time however I made the mistake of "having a chat with a salesman", you know, just to pass the time as she was doing the paperwork !!

Well, spool forward to a week ago & I was in the dealer picking up my nice new shiny X5  :o  :D

Very dangerous, this "chatting to salesmen" seems to be  :))

So I've had a little play today, mainly coding.

One observation, I can't believe I nearly didn't add HUD and surround view - both very VERY good.

The kids are very happy with their sun blinds while the pano roof is a particular favourite of mine! And the comfort seats?! Oh, my word!!

Looking forward to a night drive to test the light properly, they seem rather bright.

ASS coded to remember last setting and a number of other things changed:

Anyone getting a Tracker fitted?  A few scare stories about the X5s targeted. CAT5 seems to be top but it's going to be at least £700!

I had Tracker Locate fitted prior to collection.

Cost including 1st years subs was just under £500. Only had it as my insurers (LV) insisted otherwise I wouldn't have bothered.

I've also purchased shortfall back to invoice and tyre insurance so it's been an expensive month so far!

I used ALA Insurance whom I've used for some years and they have always been on the ball and it's worth every penny IMO.

I've not had a tracker since the car is insured by my employer under the opt-out scheme. If (when) I leave and have to insure myself, then I'll get one I think.

I bought GAP (replacement vehicle), tyre (£300 per tyre, 4 years), plus smart repair insurance Friday night :o All from Car2Cover as I used them before.

Heads up to anyone who doesn't have GAP - get it! My brother-in-laws car was written off by a well known airport parking company last month.  :'(

Single tyre damaged on my wife's X3 a couple of months ago and the amount saved paid for the tyre insurance.

GAP will only be a bargain when you have to claim, the story of your B-I-L's car is a great example, hopefully it's money wasted but then again.......

Does the iDrive look like this? I know that there is no touchscreen (7 series) but wondered if the layout looks like this.

Touchscreen, did you import from the US as I was told not available for UK market?

Nope, standard UK factory order. Was it a salesman who told you that? I thought they knew everything [emoji6]
