Have you checked the vacuum hoses for leaks could be that when the icv was replaced its no longer air tight or split hoses?

yep checked all those .... replaced the icv and throttle body inlet hose because it had a little surface cracking
checked all the wiring between the icv and the ecu thats all good

Try pulling the battery negative terminal off for 1/2 hour or more maybe this will reset the Dme?
From the diagnostic there is an intermittent wiring fault,I know that you have tested the wiring but have you tried testing while wriggling them at the same time so it may replicate the fault?

i'm off the weekend and hopefully we've got a demo smoke machine so i can test for leaks again
I'll try wiggling wires too while i'm at it and see if i can find a dodgy wire
I'm still pretty sure it's an ecu because it disappears if you stop the car and switch it off wait a min and re-start
but i'd rather make sure than change stuff in the hope it works

Smoke tested it over the weekend and no leaks also tested the ICV wiring for continuity and that was all good too
I'll order the replacement ecu at somepoint this week and hopefully that will fix my problem .....
on the brightside a replacement ecu is still going to work out cheaper than re-building the back suspension and doing the rear brakes

Hi Ian,How much is the replacement Ecu,I wonder it would be cost effective to repair.
In the past I've sent off a Mercedes A class gearbox ecu to a company called Ecutesting tested repaired at the fraction of replacement so maybe an idea?

theres a company in plymouth we deal with occasionally its £100 & vat plus £18 shipping for my ecu to go to them and the imobiliser code (maybe chip) swapped across then a refurb unit sent back to me
turn around is around 4-5 days (although they think it'll be quicker)

SOLVED IT !!!
well kinda lol ...... my lpg system has a valve saver oil dripper fitted and it's been dripping in places it shouldnt
it's mounted aboce the abs pump and has managed to drip into the wiring loom and abs ecu
i've cleaned it all up and touch wood no further errors
i'll get a 99p peice of vaccum pipe and replace that while finding somewhere else for the oil tank to sit
i'll also keep an eye on it i may need to have the ecu repaired because they're prone to having problems in normal conditions god knows what having oil splashed into it will do in the long run
but at least i know whats been causing all the problems

large pat on the back for you ....... ecu is back after being away for a week ..... had to use a different company because my original choice had a 5 week backlog
to be fair UPS making a huge balls up of collecting and returning meant it was 7 days (if they hadnt it would have been 4)

update ....
p1500 code was caused by a dry joint on the lpg wiring where it was joined into the original wiring loom
found it by chance while checking the lpg ecu programming the engine was warm and i moved the loom which threw the code and logged a fault on the lpg ecu too
the 3 lights for abs were caused by 2 things ... 1 the faulty ecu and 2 my tracking is out but the ecu fault obviously overruled the tracking issue (tbh i knew that it was out but it was the least of my worries)
now i can get on with fixing the rear parking sensors (easy just repair the loom )
