Another instalment.

I made contact with Coast2coast based on a post on PH this morning and input my spec.

I then managed to get a guaranteed cost some £4000 cheaper than my dealer is offering from a BMW dealer oop north (and that was for a 7 seat rather than 5 seat) so I did what any man would do and did some man maths and added:

Pano roof
Front comfort seats

I'm very happy and think it's a very nice spec'd car now which I'm happy with  :)

And I'm still over a bag of sand better off  8)

As a matter of interest it would appear I've managed a discount of 10% plus BMW contribution, so quite a lot off list and circa £14000

I have a demo M50d for a long weekend shortly and will place my order after that. I suspect my current dealer will lose the business which is a shame but shit happens as they say.

Bit of a story here...........

Coast2Coast are a website that is simply a portal passing leads to franchised dealers and my enquiry was passed to a BMW dealer oop north and I had a call and discussions went from there. There's actually nothing to worry about, you simply have to pay C2C £300 + VAT as an introduction fee when you order the car (refundable if you don't take delivery)

The discount I secured with Coast2Coast was nearly £14000 so quite a hefty lump of cash when you consider BMW don't like discounting the X5.

I had a voicemail from a certain mod on this site this morning who made me aware he not only knows my dealer but he has recently helped negotiate a lower price on two cars from the same dealer using C2C as a bargaining tool.

I really don't like playing behind peoples backs so I called my dealer this morning and made them aware I had a quote which was much cheaper and could they match it.

They have, my deposit is paid and delivery will be mid-October  8)

Happy Friday and back in an X5 again  :)

Thanks PVR for your help and don't believe what people say about you, clearly they're not all correct :ok:

Final bit of the 'buying a car today' episode

The Coast2Coast dealer BMW called me at 5:10pm and offered another few thousand off the deal to get the deal.

I called my dealer and he matched it.

Man buying X5 M50d Sport with loads of toys wins.

Next instalment mid-October 2016

What a crazy day!  :hypo:

Just added LED Adaptive lights to the order, anyone got experience of these (as opposed to Xenon Adaptive on my M5 which do the same job but are old light technology)?

I'm surprised how excited I am moving on from my M5 and going back to an X5.

I'm sure I'll miss the brutal acceleration the M5 has from time to time however the 50d is no slouch!

I hear good things about LED

I always thought my wife's Xenon lights in her old 120D were better than my M5!

The only criticism I have seen of LEDs is that some of the colour temps are too high and the light on the road is poorer than HID as a result.  It seems to be focused on the VW and Merc cars rather than the BMWs though.
