For future reference have a look at Realoem on line. It's an up to date copy of the BMW parts system. Use the last 7 characters of your VIN in the 'Serial Number' box to pull up your vehicle type.

Great help from the guys at Cotsworld BMW. Turns out I don't have an EGR valvle on my engine so just the main stat to replace.
Will let you know how it all goes.
If anybody has a guide on replacing it, that would be great. Have searched but can't find any.
Thanks

As you don't have an egr valve those bolts won't be a problem.
If you do have an egr valve but no egr cooler then again you won't need to worry about the bolts.
They are only on models with the egr cooler

Whoops. Meant to say I don't have an egr stat. Still got the valve though.

No manifold bolts to worry about then.
Makes the job a lot easier

Got it all done!
- Put the new blower motor in. What a PITA that was!
- put the swirl flap blanks in and cleared out the egr and a bit of the inlet manifold - the egr was chokka. Took an age to clean!
- fit the new thermostat and that has improved things massively.
Issue I have now is the DPF wont regen.... Keep trying it but no luck. Any ideas?

Also, the engine light came on.... Is that something to do with emissions?

Possibly. Dealers put some kind of fluid into the system to encourage the DPF regen to be more thorough. Whether that then turns the light off again, or it needs a software reset using one of the servicing tools I can't say.
Have you thought about/got the Carly tools - OBD2 device and App as I know other BMW models can have functions enabled, faults checked/cleared with it, and you can send the error log to them for looking at.

I've actually got a bm cable qnd DIS57 which i've used to try and manually regen the dpf but i can never get the regen to activate. Itd enabled but its possible that its too blocked to work.
The tool i have says the last regen was 32000 miles ago..... Think of the crap thats in there!!!!

Might sound daft, but can you 'action' it with the car in motion and warmed up? I know they need a defined set of parameters to be met (temps I think) before anything happens, and I'm wondering whether until it is fully warmed up it isn't 'seeing' the parameters being met?
Is your software telling you what the ash level is?
It might be something that is so far gone it needs dealer attention to get the software command to be executed, or there may be a special DPF barbecue mode

I've been driving it as per the conditions. It says on my comp to drive above 60kmh but if heavily blocked then 30 mins above 2000rpm and at least 245degs at before the cat...... Quite a few t's & c's to adhere to.
Gave it a 30 min blast on the dual carriage way and still nothing.
Will try and find some dpf fluid like you mentioned before.
Either that or remove it manually and clean it.... Not preferable.

I can't get mine to regen either, even though I've driven it for 30 mins on a motorway in 5th gear to keep the revs higher and get temp up.
