Re: F25/F26 Tyre thread
Pumped my tyres on Monday after 6 months ownership / 3000 miles - The car indicated I should check levels and perform a reset. According to the very confusing label the rears needed to be about 42psi and the fronts 39 (its all in bar 2.8, 2.2 fronts) felt alot more uneven on the way home but hopefully I will see an improvement in mpg..
Re: F25/F26 Tyre thread
Is that with normal load (driver +1), or fully laden (all seats plus cargo)?

That seems very high imo. Please check it again. Even fully laden and 4 occupants, i cannot imagine a F25/F26 going above 38 psi

Re: F25/F26 Tyre thread
You guys were right, I read it wrong its hard with all the boxes all over the place! That was for half and half.
It should be 2.2 front and rear for my use (usually just me in the car). I will let some out of the rears before my journey tomorrow.

Re: F25/F26 Tyre thread
I had my tyres at 34f/36r but the dealership put them down to 32f/33r when it went in for the window seal replacement. I have stuck with their pressures.

Re: F25/F26 Tyre thread
What will happen if i replace the 19" wheelset (tpms valves), with 17" winter wheels next winter (without tpms valves)? Will the car ignore or complain?

Re: F25/F26 Tyre thread
Pick my F25 up this week - Is there under load floor stowage space for a space saver/jack or does it have to sit in the load area?
Has anyone suffered cracked 18 rims with runflats?
Am considering a set of 17" (poss. Borbet) so I can run Michelin Cross Climates as they don't seem to offer 18" compatibles. Anyone noted much difference between 17 and 18" and what are the likely warranty issues with non BMW wheels?

Re: F25/F26 Tyre thread
You will hit warranty issues. In the past BMW have refused to cover transmissions and paintwork (wheel arch area) if non-genuine parts are fitted to their cars - and that includes the tyre type as well.
Beware of non '*' marked, or tyres that BMW don't offer with their cars. You could face warranty issues for those too. BMW transmissions are known (now) to be intolerant of non standard tyres, and more so if there is a significant difference in rolling diameter.
You will also need to tell your insurers as many class non-OEM fittings as a 'modification from standard', and charge accordingly or even refuse cover.
On other BMWs the spare goes under the boot floor.
Have a look on REALOEM for the optional wheel sets, or alloywheelsdirect as they list genuine sizes/patterns that you can use. Style 304/305/306 are all 17" and listed for the F25.

Re: F25/F26 Tyre thread
Thanks again - That's very helpful - especially with regard to tyre choice and transmission failure warranty.
Is the wheel well in the F25 boot big enough to take a full size spare?
My mistake - Looks like Michelin Crossclimates would not fit even with 17".
Any alternatives for either 4 season or winters? Nokian (I doubt these are approved) are the only ones I've found that fit and get a half decent review for winter/snow use.
Currently running Goodyear 4Seasons on the old 4x4 - very good but not avail. in the size I need.

Re: F25/F26 Tyre thread
I've just checked Realoem for the spare wheel kit (it exists) and it says 'Dealer/Service Use only, no position to store wheel in the car' so I guess that answers that question. Nice one BMW!
Approved tyre types are all listed here including non-RFT. I selected a 2.0d engine to search under.

Haven't heard of any cracked rims on 18,19 or the optional 20 inch wheels.
There isn't sufficient room under the load floor for anything more than a compressor and tools, hence the ongoing discussion around tyre slime/inflators, and possibly a tyre plug kit.
You can't "tool up" for every eventuality, but having those 3 items certainly reduce the chances of an aborted journey from a puncture.

This is the biggest reason (for me anyway) to have runflats, no worries about carrying a spare and keeping the weight down, whilst having enough room to store tools etc underneath

Re: F25/F26 Tyre thread
Thanks everyone. The dealer confirmed no space for spare - Reassuring to hear that cracked alloys is not a big issue as my neighbours have had suspension issues on our track and the tarmac joining road has huge pillows.
I haven't peeled back the under load-floor cover to see what is behind the battery. Presumably not a lot.
Trying not to spend a small fortune on a set of winter rims. The stock Pirellis look like someone stretched rubber bands round them - Not going to be much use on my uphill track if it snows but great in the current weather.
Edit: I stole the Continental slime kit from my wife's car as she now has a spare wheel kit having refused to use the slime. At least that gives me a fighting chance of a long night time journey home with a flat tyre.

Re: F25/F26 Tyre thread
I picked up a 2nd set of winters, from EBay @ £300 , they are in mint condition having been used for 2 winters.
All I need to do now is ask the dealership to supply and fit the TPMS sensors and they will be ready for winter.
I would go down the same route, or buy the proper set from BMW at circa £1500
