Remember to clear down all the Bluetooth pairings as only so many are permitted after which it refuses all new attempts.
I take it the dealer has given you the PIN?

The bluetooth PIN number is usually on the label on the bluetooth module on some bmw`s . Usually 4 digits .
I don`t know where the module is on the X5 .

In the boot left side under the floor, you can also pair using the 1.4.0 software the pin shows there as well.

Thanks for the info on the Bluetooth people!!
My problem is nothing at all happens when I press the button on the centre console it doesn't even try and pair I have read that the first thing to do is make sure the button is plugged in and then work back from there

Welcome Frankie and in case I've missed them...this thread is useless without pics (where'd that smiley go?!)
I have done some digging into the bluetooth modules to try and get my phones working (Samsung Note 3 and Note 4). It seems BMW went through about 10 different variants of the bluetooth module in the lifetime of the E53 which shows how good they were!
I've given up pairing my phones with the car, it seems the newer the phone the less chance you have of pairing it with the car (my old HTCs were fine) I was going to upgrade the head unit to an android one, but I think I'll just change the car instead

I think Sanj was Raj's altered ego, funny how they both disappeared at the same time

Taking it into the workshop tomorrow so I will take a few picks after its first bath tomorrow.....
Bluetooth still not working! Removed centre console assembly everything was attached! Removed all corresponding fuses and refitted still nothing.. I'm going to borrow the dedicated bmw scanner and see if I can get somewhere... I don't want to fit a parrot but I need to be able to access music from my phone.....

I found an aux port in glovebox for that. totally stupid place to put it and I think it was an official BMW installation!

You will need to explore the Aux input route as the BMW Bluetooth cant/wont cope with streaming music.

Not on an E53 it doesn't. No support for A2DP etc.
