BTW i have just picked up my new parts so after my sarnie i'm heading into the workshop to try AGAIN :lol: i'll report back the outcome when done ;)

Ahh ok...

If i'd have known, I would have dug out the brand new manifold I have in the cellar from when my mate thought he needed one! Gaskets too... :fuelfire:

If thats was me, the car would be sitting at the bottom of a lake now.....i hate having spent hours and hours woring on something only to make find another problems.

Quick update ....i got eveything back together (well almost everything)tonight so i will finish off tomorro some time and then take her for a spin and diagnostics check after......fingers crossed.
I'll update tomorro with the results and re do the pics a little larger (if ok with the mods)as they are a little small.

X555, just a quick question (I'm sure it isn't helpful at this point); With the welded manifold, how far out of square was the end port?

I was only wondering if it would have been possible to have 'packed' the gap with additional gasket material?

Great post though mate, and great job too. As others have said, not many would have undertaken such a job. Hats off to you.

Great point mate :thumbsup: but it wasn't just set back from the other ports it was on a slight angle so not being 100% sure wether the extra gaskets/packing would work (and at £30 a time for a set of gaskets :o ) I thought fu@k it i'm not re doing all this again :lol: bite the bullet and get a new one ;)

replacement vacume pump hose that i noticed was worn so re done while having good access ;)

replace one of the injectors rubber o rings as it looked worn/teared ...don't want any weak parts after all this work ;)

so in the end a pretty big overhaul with over £800 worth of parts including the oil breather, filter, glow plugs and conrroll unit as well as the manifold etc :roll:
hopefully thats it for now at least anyway.
Just them ba$@ard pdc sensors to sort now and then i will be a happy chappy :D

I have some spare rev sensors, bought from my 2nd favourite site (e..y) will bring them to the meet, if you have not sorted by then.
