As others have all points covered I'll just say a bit about the paint.

BMW paint is very hard, and swirls/scratches are normally caused by the washing and drying technique.

Have a look on the Polished Bliss website for tutorials on how to wash and dry.

Essentially though, use two buckets; one for wash and one to rinse your mitt.

Never use a sponge, a lambswool or noodle mitt is key.

Dry in straight lines with a waffle weave towel.

Before all this however you'll need to remove the swirls by claying the car and then mopping them out. The PB website will show you how to do this.

Replies based on 12 plate 40d..

1. Not normal. Are you using OEM phone lead... Phone charge from USB port - just under an hour to 100% - iPhone 6. I use a 2 amp adaptor in arm rest 12v socket to charge iPad (Air2), which takes ages on USB.

2. Not normal. Full acceleration burst will see belts strongly tighten on my body, (more than my e46 coupe did) as will first sharp turn on roundabout. Braking I honestly can't comment on as I am usually thinking of other things - that the belt is not holding me is never one of them!

3. Normal. I hate this.

4. Don't have them.

5. Not normal

6. Normal. I have carbon black. My detailer calls it 'high maintenance colour' and it bloody is. One wash will show scratches and A-glaze is sh1t at preventing it..
