Too many BMW Dealers have no real idea about the technical side of their cars.  It's something I've seen and experienced time and time again.

Too many times I have had a service drone admit that actually as an Owner I may well know far more about their cars than they do.  Let's face it, they can't do anything about fault finding if the computer doesn't tell them where to look.

Not enough 'Master Techs' in employment and too many restrictions from BMW GB - as happens with most main car manufacturers now - put pay to any technical and mechanical ability beyond the basics.

I paid £800 for all four corners to be changed.  My local BMW dealer wanted £1,200.

Can't argue against the playing-it-safe route, particularly to avoid potential warranty claim dispute.  I believe the insurer is Allianz, behind my BMW Insured Warranty

It's a shame that the only (*) marked non-RFTs are the Diamaris (AFAIK)... not that there's anything wrong with the tyre, just that it's a limited choice

In the end i put on some Hankook Ventus S1 EVO2 K117A 315/35 ZR20 110Y XL on the rear and although they dont look as aggressive as the contis they are a quieter with better ride quality. Got them from Tyre Leader in the end. £179 per tyre delivered and my local tyre guys at Ian Jones in Brecon charged me £30 quid to put on and balance etc and i kept the old tyres.

I have also found them just a grippy with no noticeable difference.

What size did they quote you for ? Most dealers go off the minimum 1,6mm  mark .

Sorry Sid you lost me with that one? what did my tyre fitters quote me or tyre leader.? I use Ian Jones for fitting/buying of all my cars for last 5 years or so. The Hankooks i ordered myself as only the older version is available in the UK atm and im not a pirelli or conti fan. And i just saw the bill and they charged me £20 for fitting.

Hi I thought that they had quoted you for run flats ! I have used Opeono.co.uk for tyres in the past very good service and up to date tyres , quite a lot of the dealer ones are what they have had for a while in the stores .
