Welcome!
Were you intentionally looking for a pre-facelift or you happened on a vehicle that ticked all the boxes?
Decent amount of kit, so quite a lot of car for the money I guess.
Does the TV work - as pre-2005 I think was analogue not digital (i.e. no Freeview)?
Enjoy the drive.

Hi mate, was just looking for a car that ticked all the boxes really, black on black is quite rare believe it or not if you're on a budget. My wife will be doing most of the driving really and that's the spec she (and I) wanted.
Not actually tried the TV yet, I'm not expecting it to work due to the digital switchover like you say, sat nav works fine, gonna try hook up a reversing camera, never had one before and it's a nice little mod

Little update, the X is doing fine, not put a foot wrong since the day I picked it up.
Only expense since the mirrors has been my private plate transfer!
Might go for some winter tyres soon :xmaswink: other than that it's been all good

Welcome and love the car. When i was buying my X5 i also just had boxes to be ticked and had my friends recommending the Face Lift, but since it was only three years ago and my car is a 2001 model i thought there was no point in a face lift as the X5 has changed so much after 2003.
Nothing worked in my car the NAV or the TV, so i just installed my own stuff,
Pioneer head unit
reverse camera
Free View
Headrest Screens (for the kids)
Pioneer headunit is bluetooth and works with iPhone so have Sat Nav, and loads more features all for under 1k compared to BMW's 3.5k upgrade ;D

OK so I've had the X5 since May and only last week I discovered that the previous owner connected an aux iPhone cable. ::)

It was routed in through the ash tray, which I never use

I wish mine was, the glove box (official BMW install apparently) is the most stupid place for it. Nearly impossible to get the aux cable in and have to leave the glove box open when it's in use

8 months or so in and got my first problem with the X5.
My wife casually says "I went to drive the car today and it wouldn't start" ::)
Dead battery, not sure what drained it but got it out of the boot (grief) and recharged it, then I shut the boot and it locked (more grief) so I had to go in via the rear seats to put the freshly charged battery back in, bit awkward as I'm over 6ft but it entertained the neighbours I suppose
)
A load of warning signalson the dash when I reconnected the battery, but I had already checked the forum so a quick 'lock to lock' on the steering wheel cleared that
