Just to check, is the BMW rubberised for grip?

There both different from the oem ones as they dont have the lip around the edge

It's not oem and is'nt soft rubber but fits like a glove and works great for me
This one fits a facelift model.......you don't say what yours is???


EDIT: Just checked out Fenj's and it's from the same company as mine but more expensive as it comes with the antislip bit in the middle.Must be the new and improved version as i bought mine way back.

Thanks, mine's a facelift too. I just looked and they do one with an antislip section too which looks very much like the towequipe one but a bit cheaper. My apologies for all the questions. It's just that whilst they all look good it's very hard to judge from photos as you can't feel photos. I think the one with the antislip would be very good but I'm considering the heavy duty rubber one as, although I'm probably going to get a towbar fitted and use a bike carrier on that, I might decide to carry my bike inside and that full length one looks pretty heavy duty and non-slip. I think I have plenty of information to make a decision from now so many thanks all.

I ended up going for these as they're rubber and I decided I would like to be able to protect the seat backs if I put them down and having contacted them they agreed to include a piece to cover the tailgate when down for an extra £5. I'll post what they're like once I've received them.

I must admit, when using my car as a Van / Pick-up while doing my house I wish had something to protect my seat backs when they were down. Nothing happened to them luckily but with all the rubble, cement bags, plaster, sand etc etc it would have been much better if it hadn't contacted the carpet on the seat backs at all... came out with a good hoover though.

We also have another estate which we'll use if lugging rubbish about but I'm hoping this will be good for protecting from heavy items with edges etc. It should also give me the option of putting my moutain bike straight in the back on occasion and if I ever start scuba diving in the UK again will be handy for lugging that gear around. I'll sort out some pics when it arrives.

Ok, so these arrived today by DHL. The service was very quick as I only paid yesterday or the day before. I'm not sure taking pictures will add anything over and above those on the ebay listing but I might do when I get more time. Anyway, they are VERY heavy duty. I've not measured it but the rubber must be about 4mm thick at its thinnest with lots of ribbed sections to aid grip and stop sliding. The fit is not 100% but very close. The rubber is maleable so there is intentionally extra depth and width and you can fold it into the edges and it kind of moulds itself and stays put. It's just very slightly out around the arches but nothing you should be bothered about. I briefly tried putting the seats down and the other section covers the seatbacks even as far as covering the headrests and still overlapping the rear section slightly. And the extra piece they included for £5 is cut nicely to cover the tailgate when down and being heavy rubber, when rolled up it stays rolled by itself. So all in all I'm very pleased with this. I've not seen a BMW one other than in picutres but can't imagine anything being anywhere near as heavy is this. The only slight negative might be that it smells of rubber but I can't see this being an issue. I highly recommend it.

I see you have bought an item but a great product I always buy for every car I get is the Hatchbag. This covers the whole of the carpeted area in the boot not just the floor. Great for dirty dogs etc. They certainly are not cheap as they are about £80 but very durable in black PVC and tailor made to fit each car so they are a perfect fit. Their website gives some details, think they even do pink ones now if anyone wants that !!

I do have a couple in the garage from previous cars if anyone is interested, one from my E53 X5 and one from my previous X3.

Looks good and I notice that they also do rubber liners which can be put inside for extra heavy use. How much would you want for your E53 one as it might be worth having both for my moutain bike use? Also, what version is it - does in include the seats down bit and split?

Mine from memory is the standard version as I didn't need the functionality of putting the seats down. It covers all the boot floor, the carpeted sides up to window level and then the carpeted back of the rear seat. They really are well manufactured and extremely durable. When you remove it from the car the carpet beneath is still like brand new.

Think from memory they are about £80 with perhaps a few pounds to post on top of that.

I sold one from a 3 Touring for £35 or £40 from memory plus about £6 or £7 to post, would do this one post and packing included for £40.

Also as regards their rubber liners, I always used the BMW mat like in this post, you don't really need anything to be honest but I was aftraid of the dog's claws ripping the PVC as he hung on around the roundabouts. Have also in another car used a relatively cheap rubber boot mat from Halfords.

Just checked Hatchbag website, the item I have is £79.95 plus £7.95 delivery new so my offer is basically half new cost for an item in perfect condition.

I've decided to give it a miss. I would probably have taken you up on it if I hadn't already bought the other one and whilst both could work well together I can't really justify spending any more. Just to add, the reasons I went for a full rubber one are that it's non-slip and offers protection from sharp objects.

Thats no problem, I understand. Both do work well together as you say and thats why I went for both as the side carpets and rear seat back get so grubby and seems really noticeable becuase the boot is right up at eye level and quite bright.
