I still can't get my head around this; would you buy a designer shirt and ask the shop to pick all the stitching of the wee polo player (or whatever) out? Would you take your Omega Planet Ocean (or whatever) to the jeweller and ask them to remove the brand lettering?

Seriously, what's the big issue with badges? The car park at my office is littered with M BMWs, AMG Mercs, two R8s, two Astons, supercharged Range Rovers, numerous RS cars, and none have their badges removed.

Genuinely puzzled.  :-[ :'(

It's not the badges, it's the size of them.  BMWs used to be more subtle but now it seems everything has to be big, brash and in yah face which is why so many of us have them removed.

I know what mine is and I don't need to tell the whole world every time I go on the road.  I can also recognise most of the other BMW version/trims etc just be looking at them.

BMW Owners don't need badges to tell the world they have a decent car, unlike the rest of the cars you mention.

They'll be adding the medals that the assemblers got next!  Have you ever seen the U.S. Military in dress uniform?  I'm sure one of the coloured tapes they have is to show they can wipe their own arses!  :))

......and my watch is worn because it's the most accurate watch I have ever owned - not because it's a Brietling and I need to tell everyone about it.

I wouldn't mate - it's an Oil company in Aberdeen, unfortunately the ar*e is falling out of the North Sea just now, so I expected all those nice motors will be gradually disappearing over the next wee while  >:(

Fair enough Richard, I guess it's down individual preference/taste at the end of the day. I'm not as big a petrolhead (or dieselhead) as a lot of you guys so maybe that's why it doesn't bother me. A case in point - I find some Breitlings too "blingy", that emergency beacon one they had on Top Gear was pretty cool though.

Yeah, I hope it works out for you. I grew up and went to School in a town called Bo'ness, just outside Grangemouth. My old man worked in the BP refinery there for years and years. Ineos have taken over the site now and are going fracking in the surrounding area (subject to the current moratorium being lifted)!
