Hi, iv got a brand new vortex breather if your interested, was fitted for literally few hours then I decided I'll just use the original one and change filter every major service, if interested can have it for £20 + postage. I bought for £45.

I'll have it if it's still for sale I'm assuming it will fit a 2004 3.0 dse

It wasn't fitted on the facelift until sometime in 2005 from the factory, some may have been retro fitted since. Worth checking for peace of mind

Thank you for clarifying this I wasn't 100%

I just changed mine today to the vortex type. 2004 facelift. The old one was like a stone and totally useless. The car runs much happier now it can actually breath. Smoke seems to be better too.

Are the filters the same on the pre face lift & facelift?

Identical. You can replace the bog roll type with a vortex type as a 1 for 1 swap. Our E46 uses the same one as well.

Why is it that the filter housing always seems to be sold with the filter on a lot of ads? :-[

That one is no good. It's for the 2-litre engines not the 3-litre units. It looked wrong in the picture so
I checked it on Realoem. E53 not listed at all, only cars with the smaller engine.

This is title of ad - BMW 320D 330D 520D 525D 530D 730D X3 X5 MODIFIED CRANKCASE BREATHER FILTER KIT
Think they need to re-do that title if it the wrong one!
Where is everyone on here buying theirs?

The part number you need is: 11127799225 (cover) plus 11127799366 (vortex). You can keep the same cover if ut's in good nick.
And gaskets: 11127793166 and 11127793165
All on this page in Realoem
here. Items comprising item 15 plus 11, 12, 13. I know it's the M57N engine, but the M57 which you have only shows the bog roll type on Realoem.
......and yes they need to redo their ad. >:(

The second one is a match. It goes inside the cover 11, 12, 13 on the previous diagram I ref'd. You just need to check that the same cover will work as the vortex goes inside it.
Go to
Realoem and put the last 7 characters of your VIN into the 'Serial Number' box to pull up your model. The bits are under the cylinder head cover section of the 'Engine' part.

My car is a 51-plate (2002)
If this is the right part no. then isn't this the right part eBay item number:301091847158?
