Re: BMW Advanced Eye
Mine being a Roadhawk I have a special power controller that allows the camera to shut down in a 'controlled way' so I ran the power forward, over the pedal area trim and up the drivers 'A' pillar then under the roof lining (poked it back with a trim tool) and it comes down just to the nearside of the mirror/sensor assembly and into the camera unit.
It came with special wiring clips which I use just in front of the headlining to keep it in place.

Re: BMW Advanced Eye
I bought one of these off ebay and wired it as Richard said, the screw head at the front under the dash has a star head.
The 0805 & 0806 use the same Ambarella A7LA50 chip set and sensor, the 0805 had a problem with overheating probably not a problem in the UK the 0806 has addressed this and has supposedly a better lens. The 0806 has only been out a couple of weeks so I am not sure all the bugs have been found yet, the only problems I have seen so far is with the GPS bracket and this is beeing sorted before they release the second batch of cameras. Some sellers were selling pre production cameras before they were ready so this could throw up some problems.

Good luck with the camera, they are all neat little cameras.

Re: BMW Advanced Eye
The kit I bought had the hardwire set as well in there, so I will try that one with the location you both mentioned.
I will fit the 0805 in the Audi first as that is the car used for most town driving, which is where I feel there would be the most value with the camera.

Re: BMW Advanced Eye
The whole reason for doing this btw is that the more I read about insurance companies, the more it seems that they will settle / go 50:50 against you even if you are 100% not at fault, purely as it is cheaper to settle then to fight.
Injustices like that I find very hard to deal with.

Re: BMW Advanced Eye
A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine was going around a corner, a car came the other way going far too fast they ended up on his side of the road damaging every panel along one side of his car.
It was 100% not his fault but the insurance settled 50/50

Re: BMW Advanced Eye
Would a dealer be able/willing to fit the supply to the rear view mirror area ? I don't want the hassle of warranty issues or rattles so while I know it'd be way more expensive than DIY, it's better than me making a hash of it all.

Re: BMW Advanced Eye
All you can do is ask. Some will, some won't. Same as some dealers will fit anything with little issue and others will only fit the OEM version.

Re: BMW Advanced Eye
I emailed my loca dealer yesterday and asked for a quote for supply and fit of front AND rear Advanced Eye, here is what they said:
Hi There,
For the parts and labour it is £557.52 Including Vat
Also you need to have a black battery in the vehicle otherwise the battery needs replaced also
Thanks
No idea what they mean by "black battery" and the battery needing replaced if I don't have one?

Re: BMW Advanced Eye
£557!!!! Are they kidding! Must charge £150 an hour for labour. The job takes 2 hours according to the EBA and there is no mention of any battery change on any cars including the F series.
You need to ask why you need a new battery when it's not mentioned in the official instruction? Unless there is a general issue with batteries and you need a new one?

Re: BMW Advanced Eye
Richard, I nearly choked on my coffee when I read the price. I replied asking to clarify the battery issue, although from her email signature, the girl that send the email is basically a receptionist so God knows what she's been told to write....unbelievable.

Re: BMW Advanced Eye
I received this response from my local dealer which is steep but not as daft as £557
BMW don’t do a kit for a power supply near the mirror, but there is a retrofit kit front camera available for your car.
The price of the kit is £190.00 + vat and it could be fitted in our workshop for £115.00 + vat.
