Dare I ask what the deals are then to sway you away from the i3?

The old guy over the road from me has one with the socket on the wall etc

He is about 85 (not that you would know) but still the chairman of his old Nissan dealership so has that and a Micra

Wicked sense of humour (has to have to have a leaf!)

He was telling me how nippy his Micra was and that it had a supercharger.

I thought he had lost his marbles completely until I looked it up and some of them do !!

He also has an XF..........

Seriously I would have one of these electric cars from commute to work (3 miles each way!) but they are just so expensive that they don't make sense for my use yet

£500 deposit, £159 a month for 24 months, (10000 miles pa) interest free on a PCP with guaranteed value circa £14k.  This is for the top of the range model with lots of bells and whistles.  As a guide, the i3 was £2000 deposit, £442 for 47 months (6000 miles pa) and a final payment of £9.9k this is the most basic model with only the rapid charger as an option.

As is normal with BMW in Belfast, offered £2k below guide on the car.  Nissan offered £2k above guide.

Nissan will also be launching a new Leaf in 2016 with (hopefully) better looks and a 50% increase in range.

I'm intrigued

I cant find your example on Nissan website

Does that include battery lease

The dealer has discounted the car by some £4k plus Nissan are doing a £3200 deposit contribution. It really is a very good deal.

Shame to lose you from the 'Man Pink' Club.  :'(

What is the range of the 'Leaf'?

Richard

Officially 120 miles, realistically more like 90 but does reduce quickly if driven hard, on motorways or on big hills.  It suits me as I will be driving no more than 50 miles in one go and as I will only intend to use the car when I'm on leave I can plan to top up at a rapid charge if I do need to

Haven't chosen a colour yet so you never know I may stick with man pink.

Price includes buying the battery. You get a five year warranty with it for the battery. If you are interested in this deal I can talk to the dealer. As he has given me a choice of colours he must have a few available.

Can't believe you have your X6 for 2.5 years already ??? Feels like last year.

And of course, no need to go anywhere else for your forum abuse fix  :))

Funny how that get conveniently forgotten.  I wonder what the true Carbon emissions are, they'll be lower but not zero (as the Ads would have you believe).

It's the range issue that still bothers me.  The Leaf is just a bit tight and could with being another 40 or so more for normal use.  Good prices and deals around though, especially with the £5k Gov't grant for some.

its something i have often wondered, im sceptical about the whole concept of electric cars, however ive never driven one, tbh both my ml and my van could be electric as the range per day would be no issue, but for me there a no go until there a common cheap alternative, you only have to look at the figures on the pcp of the i3 to realize the only benefit of that is if you want to be seen to be green, because financially you would be better with a a3tdi, 118d, polo tdi etc etc

Congrats and commiserations lol.

Interesting direction from the X to a Leaf. Can see the financial benefits of it but for me just can't justify it.

I've had the X 5 years neatly now so can see where the time has gone lol.

With the commute here around 70 miles/day with hilly terrain it's not an easy choice.  The i3 is a no go as the petrol engine is just a generator and only has a 9-litre tank so if going any distance it needs a refuel every 80 miles or so!  Not enough room in the boot or back either.  I guess if you are in town it's fine, but my commute (when/if it starts again  :'( ) exceeds the range with a safety margin so a small diesel or petrol car is the only realistic alternative.  The X is not going!!

A 6.6kW charger running for 4 hours is also 6.6 units per hour of electricity - cheaper at night yes - and I need the work done to put a 32A circuit in as well.

Milton Keynes has charging points but that requires me to work in the CentreMK and I may not be there, or within walking distance.

I'll have to await events and see what actually happens rather than speculating....

I've had a leaf out over the weekend and done a couple of hundred miles. The realistic range for me given driving style, location etc is 75 miles, still happy to go ahead but only because of the cheap deal and short term. I see it as an experiment.
