Me and the missus both have six points and she's only been driving for four-and-half years so we're never going to be be "cheap" for insurance...but admiral are the best priced on a multicar policy. Horses for courses though.

Re. the key thing, a colleague got his brand new M6 stolen earlier this year by leaving his keys near the front door, but it was found and he had to take it back. The missus and I religiously take our keys to bed with us and lock them in the safe that's bolted to the floor joists in our fitted wardrobe....also got both cars garaged every night and the entire ground floor, including the garage, alarmed. CCTV getting installed too (we do actually live in a very nice area!). I keep a heavy duty Maglite torch next to my bed which, as well as providing light in a power cut, doubles up as a very handy cosh for dealing with intruders!

Yeah maybe it's OTT but I'd rather that than have to deal with the pain and hassle of dealing with a theft insurance claim.

Unless you have lived in a bunker for the last 10 years or so, everybody will know about the comparison sites and so is the obvious first place to start ......oh look hey presto cheap quote found !

Mulitcar policies tend be riddled with issues with NCB and if you have a varied fleet of cars.

And for the determined thief that has just made it a little more interesting/a challenge to get your cars !

Not sure a torch will stand up to a knife when they demand you open the safe !

Try "Sure Thing" Insurance, I got Comp cover, with NCD protection, glass, legal and recovery/breakdown for £320 all in.
I found that a PLAY ON Description of your profession made up to 30% difference on the premium..

EG, I'm a QA engineer (automotive Tier 1 supply).... however, If I stated that I was in the motor trade or engineer, or mechanic, or anything that hints hands-on mechanical work, or anything that hinted I would tinker with my own car, then the premium shot up..... by many ££ hundreds...

Look up the key words, and you can legitimately find a LOW RISK job heading that suits your work description safely, but lowers the premium.....  If you're a motor engineer, then maybe title your self as a technician, or see what similar titles there are without lying...

lol......I used money super market for my £329 quote from Kwik Fit, when I phoned them up this morning they said they could not access the quote so I accessed it on my phone and gave them the ref number.....still they could not access the quote so he decided to it would be best to give me another quote )...10 minutes later and he came back with £458 quid  , rang Hastings up who I am with and who gave me a renewal of £514 and told them about the £329 kwik fit quote and they soon had the renewal quote down to £308.00....how the hell do they manage to get from £514 down to £308 without a magic wand (magic wands arent real ).....it should be illegal to try it on with people like this, feel really sorry for the people who aren't that savvy and pay what they ask,and yes ! as some of you suggested, the tracker is worthless for insurance savings for this vehicle year so I will deffo not use it again.

I've used Direct Line for the last nine years, as part of a multi-car policy. Usually ends up around £230 for the E53 with 12k miles. In many years of insuring BMW cars, it's usually Direct Line who seem to win; I believe they bought the BMW specialist underwriter Privilege which seems to give them scope to insure well.
The M3, Z4 and Mini Cooper in the family are all insured with Direct Line too.

Direct Line for me too.  2012 E70 12k miles £266.  Seems reasonable to me.
