::) 535dboy - stop confusing matters.....not a truck albeit folk can call it what they wish. ;)

Tabmid - I posted above re Cotswold - best thing is once you have dialogue with them you can simply exchange emails and realoem details....they will want your vin legitimately btw :)

Danny at bmwpartsonline.co.uk is a useful contact. He stocks original equipment equivalent or similar spec parts and will source parts if not in his online catalogue.

Motormec in Suffolk are genuine people

For trim parts then as well as eBay there are salvage specialists such as quarry motors or fab recycling.

No idea which or if any of these do overseas sending.

On a positive note the terms and conditions for eBay in uk changed yesterday. Basically the default for uk sellers is that items sold in uk will be offered internationally by default. If sold in uk to someone overseas the items are sent to a dispatch centre in uk and the buyer picks up additional mailing costs and any other fees such as tax etc. Members can opt out but the default is opt in.

Now may be a food time to hunt the uk based bargains before folk change their settings.

Lastly if you use realoem do bear in mind you can search by or number to. Thus you can identify a part number on your 4.8is and ten enter it on realoem getting a list of models that have same part as yours.

Hope this helps

AW8 thank you for the advise and the realm tip. :)

I do not wish to get parts shipped to my country, rather pick up during my visit to London. Since it will be a very short trip, trying with all your help to get in touch with a proper contact who can arrange it for me and I will personally pickup and pay.

Are there any reputed X5 breakers around London?

All parts suppliers will probably want payment before collection from them. I don't know of any trustworthy BMW specific breakers in London who break significant numbers of E53 shaped X5's. If you are going to be working from a uk based business perhaps arrange for items to be delivered to a business address for the attention of a colleague.

535dboy - yes that's a truck albeit a pick up truck.

Anyway I am going to be polite and not take the OP's thread significantly off topic ;)
