It's just his sense of humour.....we have got used to it.
And your writing style is a little off even our odd ways.....but we put up with pretty much anything on here, so

But did he break any forum rules in particular? It couldn't be classed as spam because he wasn't trying to advertise anything

Not all spam is advertising. We get a lot of very, very random posts / users - whether Russia women looking for a man or posting complete random stuff - even when it is about cars.
It seemed to fall in the complete random category, not following the normal pattern of introduction / question or any subject that would be classed as normal.
