Thanks very much guys! I'm really enjoying it so far.  :)

I haven't got a warranty in place Sanj  :-[ I looked into it but it's so much money per year only thing I have is the 3 month dealer warranty which to be fair I had to use on its first day when the clutch went on the way home but of course he covered the cost of a new clutch and flywheel at £2K  :o
It's got stacks of service history and has had the majority of the common failing components replaced already so I really hope there isn't much left to go wrong... Then again as we all know it is a BMW after all so it's a given it will lol.

So I bought the Current ISTA BMW Dealership software and ICOM interface, brand new Lenovo laptop with cables etc from eBay so I'm hoping I should be able to do full diagnostics and coding with that when I need it...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-New-For-BMW-ICOM-Diagnostic-amp-Programming-ICOM-A2-B-C-new-laptop-/261620331654?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=Y6lZFvrF33N8Tfsds1YXSngQxBY%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
Once I get my head around it I can always help out with anyones diagnostics coding should they need it.

Talking of meets when is the next one we are well overdue one!

Stunning, best colour for those by far

Not sure I'd be brave enough to have one without warranty though !!!

Isn't the VANOS or something the big one

I just remember hearing loads of horror stories on other forums

When I had mine a couple of years ago a replacement engine was £28k , clutch and flywheel £3k and a wing mirror £900 !!!

Mine only managed 11mpg around town and to be honest the v10 m5 only comes alive at speeds over 100mph, oh and the SMG gearbox is average at best .

Good car , sensational engine,
but not suited to this country IMHO  :))

Would never want one as a daily driver but not a bad choice as a weekend toy

Cheers I saw some receipts in the history that it had the VANOS solenoids replaced beginning of this year at a cost of 2k.

Fingers crossed that's it for now..

Yeah I know you mean about the fuel you can literally watch the gauge move. Mines averaging around 11s too at the moment.

Total agree about having to chase it to get it going which is crazy probably compared to the new twin turbo models with that torque. The noise of the V10 does it for me though. Agree roads in this country arnt big or long enough to really use it to its full potential.

You speak so much sense for me and the reasons you state are exactly why I hated my V8 M3 as my daily because you may as well have been in a 318d at slow speeds regards the boring interior, and nothing happened below 6k revs and it just didn't suit our roads one bit in terms of its power delivery.

100mph plus though it was great and it did impress me in that regard and I am sure the M5 is so much more awesome too at those speeds.  8)

It's a 55 plate and at the time it was on 80k miles. FBMSH all the toys ticked from factory; heated active seats, Logic 7 sound system etc..  I gave £12,700 in the end from an independent dealer which from talking with Imy wasn't such a bad deal. Hate buying from dealers but this particular time I'm glad I did! As on the way home the clutch exploded so I took it straight back and he had to replace that and the dual mass flywheel at a cost of over £2k :)

Ha ha you got me trawling the classifieds now. No intention of selling the x5 having just managed to get an intravee for it (thanks justin) but would like to add an M car to the collection. I like the toys available in the newer cars but would dearly love an E39 M5! Also like the E92 M3 but will wait for a couple of years for prices to drop a bit for a 2011 one with newer idrive etc.

Have you got heads up display? Need to see this in action.....

Yeah you're right a lot of car for the money but an can be an absolute money pit when they go wrong!

Yeah got heads up display in mine it's pretty cool takes a bit of getting used to at first. Found myself keep looking down at the speedo still even though it was right in front of me. You'll see it at the next meet :)

Glad it's still going strong. All the E60 M5's have Heads Up. It's a wicked feature and I even had it in my 530d. In the M5 it gives you the rev and shifts etc too which is cool.
