Hi Richard,

I've looked on Flea-Bay for some moulded mud-flaps for my E53 diesel, to get some as per the picky in this thread earlier, but cannot find them..
Are they an OEM part ?

Here you go.....

OEM list from Realoem...under Universal Accessories.  Mine was a facelift and the flaps were fitted at delivery.

Front version depends upon whether you have the sidesteps or not as there is a slightly different shape.  None fit if you have the Aerodynamic Kit fitted.

The fitting instructions are in the listed 'EBA' which your dealer should be able to provide.  If you get stuck, I'll see if I can get a set of instructions from my parts contact.

Richard

I wonder if those Fab Ozzie mud-flaps would be available if I did an Ebay search Australia ??

Or maybe be really cheeky, and if they are only available there, what's the chances of you ordering some and sending them here to the UK and I will do a pay-pal credit for you ?

Need a 4 set, to fit a 2004 X5 with side steps..

Here's hoping.

An additional benefit of flaps is a huge reduction in tar spots flung onto the sills and lower panels of the doors, which are time consuming and dirty to remove...

Hey Grant

I honestly reckon they're an aftermarket solution for Australian customers, sourced by BMW and fitted pre-delivery. They are literally a cut to fit square of plastic, screwed into the stock arches. You could quite easily make your own to the same end result. They're pretty ugly, but effective.

I'm going into BMW tomorrow morning to pick  up some parts so I'll ask for a part number and cost if there is one.

And there is no version for the front, just the rears.

No luck, mate. I tried to find the part # with the parts interpreter but all we could get was the standard mud gaurds (moulded 3.0d versions) or the 'mud boards' fitted to the 4.8is, which is just the lower section of the arch that fits to the bumper (not the extension piece). I can take some close up pics of how mine are fitted if that helps? As I said, I reckon you could make your own quite easily.

Seems to be some here http://stores.ebay.co.uk/BMW-Direct-Sto ... itleDesc=1

I'd be interested in some photos smokey, I go up and down tracks to dairy farms and the underside of the rear wings has cow shit stalactites hanging down, most fetching

I have just ordered a 4x set of mud flaps for my 2004 face lift off Amazon for £40 and they are moulded to accept the side step...

If they are any damned good, I will post pictures and the supplier details.
We will see in about a weeks time !

Flea bay.... search "BMW X5 REAR mudflaps"
There are several items, either rears or whole sets....

Take a peek, but make sure you check the model year you buy for....
The adverts selling a pair for £63>£65 showing the rear left wheel of a silver vehicle are NOT good... had these before... get the softer rubberised ones for a lot less.

Well,
The 4 x set of mud-flaps from Amazon are fitted today... £44 incl delivery - took 4 days to arrive, and 2 hrs to fit the set of 4.
Look fab, not toooooooo low/long, so they won't catch on the kerbs I hop over in town..
And there is a recess that is lending its self to having some Black astro-turf stuff matting fitted to limit the spray, like lorry's use.

Will learn how to load some pics some time.

Grant B

Re pics, can you PM me so I can mail pics directly to some one to load, as I'm not having any joy at all with loading them thru the software add-on for this, keeps crashing my laptop...
