Horizon, yes thank you, I have scanned the car, and I am looking for faults with the alarm, nearest I can guess is as stated previously, so if anyone knows what that code means, or where exactly I should be looking if I am in the wrong area

Well done on proofing your way into the car.
The first thing I would do is tick the box to clear all errors the run it a couple of days to see what if anthing comes up. It's simply trial and error to open up various pages. You can't really go wrong other than if I remember correctly you don't want to overwrite EEPROM codes if you don't know what you're doing. I'm sure someone else will advise

I have sat and deleted some of the error codes, and I will run it and try again in a week or so.
I did find an error relating to the bonnet sensor eventually, and I think it was just shorting due to that days weather. I still have various error codes that are not moving, so a definitive list of codes will still help.
ALSO, as is my luck, the first two sections on the scanner, DME & EGS are 'not found' ???
Any ideas (in lay-mens terms) how I can fix this?

Thanks for that link
Looks like I wont be getting a reading from my computer, I cant even work out if the thing they are welding is the plug I bought or the plug in the car :-[
The first two photos in the thread will not open (probably removed due to age)
Does this mean that if I took my car (2003 X5 4.6iS) to a dealer/specialist THEY would not be able to read my car correctly either ?

It's the connections in your lead that you've bought, not the car, that will need jumper wires soldering so it can read those modules. My scanner came correctly wired, so I have no problems with reading those modules, but I understand that some need a bit of modification to work fully. A specialist would be using something more sofisticated than Scanner 1.4.0 and would have the correct connections.

Thank you Dave, I have a mate who can solder, so it will have to go to him
Is it 7 & 8 that need joining ??

Alarm going off is a common issue with the bonnet switch. I actually just disconnected mine lol.
