OK For updates:
I am paranoid by nature when it comes to messing around with an engine as expensive to repair as BMWs, but the trip to Jason at BWChiptune put my mind to rest. Jason is a relaxed fella, and all the reviews on here definitely help put my mind to ease. I didn't opt for huge gains in performance of massive savings in fuel economy, but wanted better throttle response with any gains in fuel consumption being minor. Well, I can only imagine what it would be like if I asked Jason to tune for performance. The X3 came alive. She was response with little pressing on the pedal. I have no idea about fuel savings, as I totally enjoyed driving her home the 59.5 miles back. I wanted mild improvements, as didn't want to put an older engine under more stress, but this was a remarkable improvement. Definite recommend. Thanks to Jason.
As for the lights, there are a few forums out there about the legality of fitting HID kits, whether having washers or self leveling counts, and the heat omitted from the light that can scorch the headlamp. Well, Jason has used them previously, and recommended Raj at XenonsHID4u. Never heard of him as I am an Essex brotha. I was contemplating getting a kit from HIDsDirect, but went with jason's recommendation today. Fitting the 35w 6000k CanBusPro. The light is a really good improvement, and I will let you know what issues I have, if any. But for now, really pleased. Hopefully the pic loads, Showing simply the HID on the left, standard Halogen on the right.
Now, I need to replace the head unit, get use out of my USB sounds. And Bluetooth.
Think I will get some pics uploaded after she's had a good clean.... bring on the Armarol!
