Guys & Girls, how are you all finding the Andrive? What's the after sales support been like? Knowing what you know now, would you buy another Andrive? I cant decide between an Intravee or swap the whole head unit out with maybe an Andrive? That said, my hand might be forced as the BMW headunit screen keeps not displaying.
Also, still cant get my head round why I would have to buy additional cable to use the BMW satnav, couldn't I rip that out/pretend its not there, resulting in not having to buy the cable and use the Andrive SatNav?

There are a lot of debates on the E46zone.com forum and the 5 series forums. I like the Andrive system but there has been a glitch with the firmware which Andrive are sorting out. If you give Phil @ Andrive a call he is best place to explain about installation etc.

What one do you have? the AN39? I actually prefer the look of the AN46 as it has the bevel bit running through the middle'ish of the unit, similar to the E53 Dash. Did you have the OEM SatNav?

I have the AN39. Not sure the AN46 will fit the X5. I didn't have sat nav so was straight forward to install.

That's what I mean, what's stopping me for pretending my car doesn't have SatNav & doing away with the £64 cable.

lol, was just going to post stating I had got the answer from another forum and for those that aren't following me around from forum to forum...
Found out from another forum why I would need the 5m cable.
"The problem is that all the speaker, power and antenna wires are in the boot when you have Nav. Yes you could do without the extra cable, it's just a much bigger job as you'll have to find switched and unswitched live plus ground from the fuse box and rewire all the speakers."

This topic has been rather quiet on this forum unlike the other BMW forums. I know guys with X5's have bought these units.

New video guys!
The units now have Bluetooth obd for diagnostics available and we've just upgraded our android 4 firmware to Andrive 2.2.

Hi does anyone have any experience with using Siri with this head unit? Does it work well over bluetooth and be triggered by steering wheel control? Also does Siri's voice come over the stereo speakers?

Siri doesn't work. The main o/s is Android but the voice command on that doesn't work either. My iPhone 5 only pairs with it over wifi although I believe there is a Bluetooth upgrade which I'm trying to sus out at the moment when I get some time. Over wifi you get no control of anything on the phone. It just uses it for 3G connection.
Saying that it is a great system and a fantastic upgrade to the car. There's nothing like streaming spotify or you tube on the front 7" screen!

Hi, I've just got one of these units and installed it in my 2005 x5 but I'm having difficulty with the viewing angle. From my normal driving position the screen loses a lot of detail making some of it look like a negative. The unit sits tight and flush at the moment but wondering if I need to cut some more of the cage out to make it sit more upright. Although that would mean it wouldn't be sitting parallel with the dash any more. Anybody else noticed something similar? I'm even wondering if I might have a defective unit as I'd be surprised if others were just putting up with this. As a reference to what I'm experiencing the back, home etc buttons at the bottom of the android screen are practically invisible, you can just about make them out in the right light, if I sit right forward and move my head to the left more inline with the unit then the buttons become visible as normal. Any video playback is unwatchable unless pretty much inline with the unit.

Hi, I have an Android unit which in general is pretty good. The one critisism is the horrible glare from the unit in daylight. It is unreadable sometimes. When the light drops it is great. I have tried adjusting the brightness and tried using android apps to adjust the contrast etc but this has no improved visibility. as for the tight fit. You may need to shave off a bit more of the top of the cage to make it a better fit.
