That sounds like a nice spec, having had mine for a few months wish I'd found one with more. I have oem 215s in ferric grey, really like them, if you do get them non rfts work well.

Hi Scopio, mine is being built next week, hopefully will have it soon. How long from your build date to delivery?

Should be about three weeks depending upon the ship timetable from Charleston to Bremerhaven to Southampton....then by road to Thorne.....and then by road to the Dealer.

Thanks X5 Sport. Why does it go to Thorne, and not direct to the dealer? I have my order with Wood BMW in Salisbury, which is about 20 miles from the port of Southampton.

Thorne is the UK Receiving Centre for all BMW UK cars and is where the final country specific kits are fitted and any repairs are done at the Vehicle Preparation Centre (VPC) - yes they can and do get damaged on the crossing - before being shipped to the Dealer.
My X6 had the bonnet badly repaired/resprayed after the paint was probably damaged by Seagull poo! Local Dealer sorted it under warranty and you can only tell under the IR lights on our CCTV. Invisible in daylight.
The current BMW water based Paints are not at all bird resistant so you need to watch for that.

Are you having a protective glaze put on? I got the A Glaze treatment, other dealers use different ones, do not pay anything like full price - try for free and work up. Think it was £399 and ended up at £150 - still a lot for a bottle of fluid and a guys labour but at least you know you are getting a good job done and that little bit more piece of mind on an expensive motor..

I'd get a pro valeter to do it if I were you for a full detail

Seems a long way from Southampton to Thorne I'm assuming the one near Doncaster, and then back again to Salisbury, no wonder they charge £700.00 delivery as they haul the car round most of Britain before handing it over. I declined the Teflon protective coating the dealer was offering as a lot of people think it's a waste of money. A good polymer polish applied regularly seems the best defense, and makes the car shine. Might consider a pro valeter to detail the car once I have it.

I take it the cars are moved around on a transporter rather than driven? What mileage should be showing on the odometer at handover?

I wouldn't necessarily rely on the odometer at handover. When my (then new) 2010 35d arrived at the dealers I had a look at it and a swift pootle round the block. At that stage it had almost 50km on the clock. The dealer finished the pre-delivery inspection and I took possession two or three days later at which time the odometer had less than 10km.
People in the US confirmed similar experience (via Xoutpost forum)

I think mine had about 17 on the odo. By the time it's been tested on the production line where they run them up to quite high speeds, driven into the car storage park, onto and off a train, around the docks, onto the ship, off the ship (possibly at both Bremerhaven and at Southampton), onto another transporter to go to Thorne, tested again at Thorne, put back on a truck and then delivered to the Dealership that can add up to a few miles. Not surprisingly it gets reset before delivery.

Hi Sorpio, has yours arrived yet? Mine is build code 9000, departed plant, anticipated delivery to UK 27th May. So hoping to pick up by 7th June.
