To be honest they're much of a muchness.

The only factor that makes the difference between two manufacturers equivalent kit is the person pushing the shutter.

Initial hardware purchase seems to determine nearly all brand loyalty as far as I'm aware. Once you have invested in a good lens or so, it makes it too expensive to change brand so you tend to stick with it.

Not sure there is much between Canon and Nikon, is there?

There isn't really. I know a couple of professional photographers using canon/nikon and both superb.

Agreed. You can have the best equipment money can buy if you are muppet behind the camera then it only mask so much.

Likewise, had a Canon film camera (still do) and the glass for it so carried on down the Canon family line.  Other than that it's all down to personal prefs.  :)

My mum prefers Olympus and my Dad is Pentax thru and thru.....although he does now use my old EOS40D but at age 80 finds it a bit heavy.

Started with a Canon 1000fn and bought an 120 - 400 (I think) lens so stuck with the brand as I liked the way it all worked.

Would love to get some great shots like the lake one :D

Very nice pics there.

I trust you used that last pin to stop having children 8 and 9?  :))

Here's one on my iPhone.

My little one can't stand the shower and we didn't have a bath in Turkey so he had his wash in the sink!

OK, how did you do that Villa one?  Long exposure of the night scene then flick the lights on, or remote (hidden behind the trees) flash delayed to trigger on the second curtain?  Or even a manual exposure and flash trigger?

Simply a long exposure with ambient light helping out:

Exif data
Camera - Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Exposure- 30
Aperture - f/7.1
Focal Length - 17 mm
ISO Speed - 320
Exposure Bias - 0 EV
Flash - Off Did not fire
