I'm no expert in this field, but wouldn't it be virtually impossible to quantify its value? Particularly in monetary terms.
Do you think Inland Revenue is actually interested?
For its members all that BMWLand data was (and could still be) invaluable.

Yes, there is no real way to measure its value in monetary terms - the most simple way is to offer it to market...
Lets say that the new Forum owner then purchased it for £100. That would be its official value to the Revenue and case closed - they would not have any leg to stand on to argue it was worth more because they, like us, cannot measure the value of written information and historical conversation. It is worth only what someone will pay.
Like you say, the information to members is invaluable.
