£100 later

Post by blingsta » Thu Dec 02, 2010 1:51 pm

dont know wether to cry or be happy, but i thought i'd take the X to have the tracking checked as it was pulling slightly to the left !! so bearing in mind that its a free test and any adjustments would cost £36 for tracking, i thought "sod it" :driving: .
anyway... after hooking up all the equipment to the wheels etc, i was told that both rear cambers were out, 1 of the rear toes needed adjusting, both front cambers and toes were also out !!! :( :x

£100 later, all adjustments made and now back at home skint

but hey, at least i'll be saving on tyres in the long run ha :D

Ain't it always the way though!! Someone must have been bad with it to cause all that lot to be awry though?

But yes it will save on tyre wear :)

Hey

where did you take the X in for the tracking?

I've been told by this one place only BMW can do this as they need to put certain weight in the car before had....but i think they just didnt know what they were saying or doing when it came to 4x4.

is this true?

Any where that has the KDS alignment kit can do this. BUT if they are doing it correctly that's 63kgs of weight in the back and front plus a full tank of fuel...

Protyre near me do it apart from $tealers at half the price.

Always had a problem with the Full tank of fuel thing when talking about alignment... It should really be the average point at which you drive your car - i.e if you usually drive your car from full down to empty before re-filing then the average or mid-point is a half tank of fuel to do your alignment.

+1 here too. When i had mine done there was no mention of full tanks of fuel and extra weight in the boot :o

Your more likely to be driving around with half a tank than a full one anyway as (in my case) i rarely fill the beast up.When it gets down to a quarter or just below i usually top it up with about £40 -£50 unless of on a long journey. So my average weight would be around the half way mark and i'm guessing a lot of others on here too at the price of the fuel and how big these tanks are
