Beware! X5M/X6M style 300 wheels on eBay

In case any of you are considering these...

Firstly, my understanding is that they won't fit standard E70 X5 due to the smaller hub size on the X6M/X5M, and the spigots he has will not make any difference.
In fact the wheel centre would have to be bored to fit an X5.

Plenty of info online about this.

More worryingly, the seller is a very unpleasant individual, and thoroughly offensive.
Not only that, but a bit of digging revealed that this seems to be a recurring theme in the way he does business.

...and to top it all he has a conviction for theft and fraud!

If you are considering them then may also be interesting to know that a BMW main dealer (not the one I bought the car from) sold me a genuine set of X6M/X5M winter wheels and tyres for £1000 - a massive discount from the £2600 list price - again because the wheels won't fit a regular X5, and they just couldn't sell them!

So suggest you could get them for a lot less than the £3k he's asking!

Interesting.  X6 to E53 is OK with spigot rings but yes the E70 has different centre diameters.  They will also fit the X5M as that has the X6 transmission at the back.

Someone seems to have made an impression on him....

"Another Highly Opinionated Old model X5 owner says they will not fit his car, so please make sure they will fit yours'.  Although he says he will still buy them if they were cheaper, There are some Strange people out there!"

I only paid a dealer £500 for a new set of 19" wheels & tyres for mine as they couldn't sell them either.  Now my winter set.

Yes, that's about his level. Very aggressive, and you can tell from his replies to my questions that he's clueless.

Still, he'll have some fun if he sells them to an E70 owner.

I have a set of staggered X6 wheels for my X5 winter setup. I paid £10/wheel to have them bored out to fit the X5 hub.
It's a cheap way to get a nice set of wheels!

I did mention that in my exchanges with the eBay seller when I was asking about the 'spigots' he was claiming would do the same job ::)
When I read around the 'boring' subject there seemed to be a general trend towards not doing it, although the reasons were mostly around the possibility if it being done badly, which I suppose could be avoided.
