Quick rear light question

Post by UrbanFlow » Tue May 06, 2014 12:25 pm

My 2007 E70 has a few rear light issues in the tailgate lights only due to water ingress.
Can anyone confirm that the 4 bar LEDs above the fog lights in the rear tailgate light (circled blue in the picture) should light up and match the main rear lights?
I assume both of mine have packed up. Have googled for images with lights on and found zilch!

Thanks in advance.

Water ingress in the rear lights in the tailgate are a common problem for the pre-LCI E70 as the rubber seal deteriorates.

The lights should work so sounds like yours aren't working, I had both of mine changed out as I got water in mine, the new rubber seal in the new units are better, easy job to do yourself, but they are £140 each from BMW.

Thanks for the responses.
The sealing gunk they used on both the tailgate lights had failed along the top edge allowing water to get in.
The LED's have both gone - both fogs worked but after stripping to replace the seals the left one which is much more badly corroded has now failed and is throwing an error up o the dash - so will have to replace both clusters.

Should be one of this lot...
Realoem Slide for rear lights.  2008 E70 3.0sd.

Realoem is a copy of the genuine BMW parts system.  Just put the last 7 characters of your VIN into it and it brings up your type.  Then look for the bits you need.  Usually it's obvious although occasionally some thinking outside the box is needed to find where the parts might be hidden.
