Carrier bike for 2010 x5

Post by Stephen Jarvis » Sat May 10, 2014 3:26 pm

Hi everybody
I've  got a 2010 x5 and I tow a caravan, I'm looking for a cycle carrier which will bolt onto the 2 towing eyes, this will allow me to hitch the caravan on, does any body, know where I could purchase one, or is there a alternative ?
Cheers Steve

I looked into towing eye bike racks for my previous car (E70), but didnt actually get one. In the end I went for the roof rack and cycle bars. These also fit my new F15 luckily.

With hindsight the effect on mpg for roof mounted is huge, especially if you are cruising "at speed". Also, they are a bl**dy pain to get bikes on and off simply because the car is so tall.

You may be looking for one of these?

They are limited to 2 bikes as apparently the 1 bike extension doesnt work with it, and you'd have to check that it doesnt interfere with your towbar if (as I read from your post) you are intending towing a caravan at the same time.

One question though, can't you just put the bikes in the caravan?

It'll be allright in the end. If it isn't allright it isn't the end
