x5 e53 panoramic roof issues

hi new to site and bmw, just bought  an x 5 05 plate, only problem with car is the sunroof, it wont work can any one help. thanks

I suppose the first thing to do is check the fuses. Then poss get any errors read to see if that highlights the issue. Could be the switch label itself or the motor.

Good point from Rich. I'd assumed private hence the question from you but if dealer then take it back as you will be covered for them to sort it.

thanks for replies, bought private got a chunk of discount due to roof being inop, bought a roof rail repair kit with cables from ebay, have not found where the fuse is, the switches are wired up any help greatly appreciated.

Fuse 58.  20A above the glovebox.

Two fuse boards in the car.  One above the glovebox (hinges down) and one in the right rear cubby.

Had my X5 over 5 years and the Sunroof has gone twice in that time. Luckily for me I have the BMW Extended Warranty. It still sticks now from time to time and they are a real issue with the E53's.

Hope the DIY fix sorts it and you don't get into too much trouble with it.

Thanks for help, had a bit of an investigation as to why the roof wont work today, the front motor works and the roof cables are needing replacing which I have the cables for, the rear motor seems not to work, any updates as to why would be greatly appreciated.
