Worn rear bush symptoms
Re: Worn rear bush symptoms
I paid £140 for Mids VW to cut the old bolts to get the swing arm out and fit the secondhand set I got plus fit the new rear suspension and antiroll bar too as they were having to remove the old springs etc anyway.
Re: Worn rear bush symptoms
That seems like a pretty good price- thank for that
I spoke to Quarry yesterday, they have swing arms for £75, so I'll get a pair bought and book it in.
I'm just hoping that sorts it- I think there's still one other link that could be causing the problem (have had the top arms done)?

Apart from the top 2 arms and the lower swing arm there is only the ball joint itself.
Oh and Mids VW price was a slightly discounted mates rates price but hopefully not too far off.

I'll get everything checked while it's apart- will end up with a brand new car at this rate!
Re: Worn rear bush symptoms
Finally got the job done by AutoTec in Liverpool, £85 a side. Was quite pleased with that!
It feels a lot better overall but it hasnt cured the slight side-to-side shimmy going over bumps.
Any ideas?
They also noted it needs both thrust arms and a front suspension arm too... the list goes on.

Subframe bushes I suspect, cured ours with the same symptom.but it hasnt cured the slight side-to-side shimmy going over bumps.
Re: Worn rear bush symptoms
Was it an expensive job?
Re: Worn rear bush symptoms
This can be a hard job without the correct tool...
The bushes I used, (Meyle HD from ebay ~£75 for the set.) Me and a mate did the job at another friends garage on a ramp in 4 hours with the bush tool. Would be quicker if I did it again.

Re: Worn rear bush symptoms
Ok, will ask autotec how much and add it to the list!
Re: Worn rear bush symptoms
Its transformed ours and they didn't look that bad before we started but the front two were shot. I also changed the anti-roll bar drop links at the same time as they weren't much money and definitely past there best.
