De-Badge your X

I am not a fan of badges on cars, so my first job is to de-badge them




The first thing to do is heat up the glue that holds the badges on, you can use a normal hair dryer.




You then need to cut through the soft glue using something like dental floss or fishing line, just use a slow sawing motion.




When the badges have been removed there will probably be some glue left on the car, most of this can be removed by rubbing off with your finger any glue remaining can be removed with something like Tardis.




When all the glue has been removed you will probably still see an outline of the original badge, this can be polished out with something like Meg's 105 or T-Cut.




You are then left with a car with nice clean lines.

Nice write up. 

I used isopropyl alcohol (don't use it neat though!) to remove the glue, and white spirit does the job pretty well too.

Ditto, also the very first thing i did on mine..  the day i got it home!

I see you also switched the rear BMW badge from blue to black too..  was that a simple job?

Sorry goose for the delay, I have only just seen your question.

The rear badge was quite fiddly, the badge is a complete unit with the actual bmw logo part of the badge is on very thin metal. 
To remove this part of the badge you can either heat the glue up and prise the middle out or I cut a 25mm hole in the centre of the badge and removed it that way. 

I then filed the plastic part of the badge where the original logo was down as fine as I dare using a Dremel.  The only replacement badge I could find was the same as the front one, so I first cut te two lugs off then filed the new badge down as fine as I could I then stuck the new badge to the plastic where the old badge was.

The new badge sticks out a couple of mm but I can live with that.





I also replaced the bonnet badge and the wheel centres

Just debadged my Audi as well, no need for the wire though - just used my nails around the corner to pull it off but it does hurt with the hairdryer on it ...  :blink:

But being a former Z4M driver, I am in touch with my nails and hair dryers  )
