Identify towbar

Post by cjslator » Sun Apr 06, 2014 9:41 pm

Good evening,

We picked up our pre-facelift 3.0d last week and are over the moon with it. When we looked at it we asked if it had a tow bar fitted to which the seller said it didn't (they'd taken it in part-ex and had it mot'd&serviced and we viewed straight away). To my surprise when I looked in the boot I found a towing module, and looked under the bumper it's got a tow bar fitted along with twin electrics but there is no detachable tow ball.

I've looked at some online but they don't look like this one, could anyone help me out as to identify it so I can order a replacement tow ball? I've checked under the spare wheel, in the two sides of the boot and can't see the tow ball anywhere :-(

Image

Many thanks

Doesn't look like any I've seen either.

I had a quick squint at PF Jones and Towsure but it doesn't match a current one on them.  Is there no 'rating' label on it anywhere?  There should be one - unless it's rotted off?  That might give you a clue as to make or approval number.

Thanks Richard, I'll have a gander tomorrow when it's light, I looked quickly today but couldn't see one.

I'd second that.

Seems a bit strange why they'd take the thing off and leave the electronics in though??
Sockets maybe, but the trailer module i would have thought would have been removed with the bar.
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....

There's no wonder I was pulling my hair out trying to work this out, feel a little embarrassed now  :))

I'll reverse it up to my trailer later on this week to make sure the electrics still work before getting a tow bar kit bought.

Thanks for your help.
