Have you got the firmware disc out again?

Did everything go as per the instructions when you loaded the firmware?

Bit concerned about the 'switched it off comment' above...and it only taking 30 secs....the correct update process is as below and has to be followed exactly to avoid any trouble.  Even closing/opening a door can cause trouble.

1) Open tailgate and driver's door and leave open.
2) Eject the map disc.
3) Go back to the front and switch the ignition to position 1 - DO NOT close the driver's door!
4) Return to the boot and insert your software update disc
5) Look forward and observe the screen, it may go black for a few seconds and should then show "Software will update".  The update process will start and a progress bar will appear at the bottom of the screen, this phase may take up to 6 minutes.
6) When the "Reboot" screen eventually appears, eject the software disc, go to the front and confirm reboot by pressing the right hand button
7) Return to the boot and insert the map disc.

Once all is up and running, now you can turn it off.  Any interruption to the supply until all steps are complete can result in the Nav Computer being 'bricked'.

But check fuse 7 in the forward fuse board (above the glovebox) and there may be others with 'Navigation' on them font and rear to see if a fuse has popped.  If all the fuses are intact and a battery reset has done nothing then you may have a problem.

If it will power up then try removing the map disc and run the update again, or run an earlier version.  You could have a bad disc in which case go do a BMW Dealer and buy the OEM Firmware disc - assuming you haven't already.

No idea.  At a guess and reading the description it might contain the original code and can effectively reload the OS from scratch.  It might work, or it might not.  Given the state your system is in then £30 to fix is better than the alternatives at present.

Sounds like a failed flash to me. Trying to reload the same firmware wont work, you need to downgrade it then upgrade. The older firmware disc images are freely available. Post up if you get stuck.

As the guys below have stated - you've messed up the V32 flash update by the looks of it. You will need to get an older one on there first before you can come back to the current one you have (and that's if you still trust the update disc)? Or leave it on the lower version.

Where are you base? Oh and why the voting options in this thread?
