Potential New Owner 2013 E70 No media pack though....

Post by roadster198 » Sun Mar 23, 2014 9:06 am

Hi,
    I've put a deposit on a July 2013 E70 X5 5,800 miles £37,995, Space Grey.

This one. http://www.approved.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/bmw ... e_ASC|list

However it has no Media package which explains the price. The CIC (please forgive if that's wrong) has the nav button on it. Would if be possible to get the bigger screen fitted along with bluetooth? I realise this will not be cheap however I'm prepared to pay for it. Any ideas what this might cost?

They have cars with the media pack and the bigger wheels but there £4K dearer, lower spec'd but delivery mileage. These are £41,995

The car I've put the deposit on would've been £54K new going off the price  list options.

The Spec is as follows:
£660.00 Nappa leather
£530.00  Reversing camera
£305.00 Seat heating
£245.00  folding mirrors
£400.00 Powered boot
£320.00 Sun protection glass
£1,125  Wheels Double spoke M
£1,275  Sunroof

Thanks

Hi,

The cheapest I could find was around £1700 for the CIC nav without the bluetooth

Yes this is the kind of prices I've been getting on the internet. However in comparison with regards to the pricing of the car it's nothing. A valuation of the one I'm looking at is £27K on We Buy AC so there is basically a £10K premium on the car as the dealer is asking £37,995. I'm quickly going off the idea... As I'll only keep it for 3 years. Problem is I've stuck a deposit on it.... :(

Do you have a link of where you got the £1,700 unit?

Thanks

What a starnge omission particularly for an ex-BMW uk car.

Could make it difficult to shift
Currently :
2012 Audi RS4 (B8)
2012 Porsche Boxster S (981)
2008 Lotus Exige S (a bit modified!)
2015 Nissan Leaf twin turbo with Nitros

Previously :
2008 BMW X5 3.0sd MSport
2005 BMW 535d MSport

This is my thoughts as well.... :(    A quick call to BMW parts and there is no retrofit kit available for SAT Nav and nothing for bluetooth..

Hi

Iirc X5sport covered this topic in a previous post for someone and to retrofit the Bluetooth I think he said it need additional loom and modules and a Pia in all.

I'm sure he will be along to confirm this shortly

Get your deposit back.

Retrofitting is an expensive and sometimes not straight forward thing to go through on the newer models.

Find one with it, even if fewer other toys as trying to shift it later will be more difficult. People are more forgiving if it doesn't have the powered boot or something than if it hasn't got the media pack.

Thanks for replying.

The fun has begun with trying to get deposit back. Long story short.... Went to broker for finance not dealer and it turns out he's trying to push me a balloon product not a PCP product which would cost a fortune in the long run over a PCP deal. Not happy. upon telling the dealer I've been misled by broker he's coming out with the usual not sure if I can get deposit back. However £400 is on my credit card so hopefully all not lost it may just take some time to get back.

As requested, yes it does mean a massive amount of work to add a CIC to a car without one.  It can be done but with all the necessary hardware it is well north of £2k in parts, then you need coding, looms, and licence keys from BMW to 'activate' the functions.

Someone in Canada did it about three years back and was doing it in stages.  His last totting up was the wrong side of $4k and climbing.  He had at that point still do get the PDC, Bluetooth, TV and a couple of other FSC codes.  Those were around $1,200 on their own.  The Nav one in the UK is £185 last time I asked.

I think I would get my deposit back and find one that's got one in.  Do you not have a 'cooling off' period to withdraw?  I managed to get my £1,000 deposit back on a new X6 a couple of years back.  OK it was from a Dealer and they were very good about it.

Thank you for this. I assumed this would be the case. These cars clearly need this option to sell on. As previously stated a strange error on BMW's part.

The £1700 was a fitted price btw including the interface, wiring etc.
