Advice on Broken Door Handle Carrier

Post by Raward » Sun Mar 16, 2014 8:23 am

Hi
Me ruddy driver side door handle went on Friday whilst I was refurbishing my headlamps.
Classic door handle sign where the exterior handle sits proud by approx 3mm.
Opens fine from inside etc.
There is a very helpful post from Sanj re replacing this.
I want to buy one off FleaBay or Amacon but not sure if I should be buying BMW original part or whether Chinese equivalent is acceptable.
If anyone has fitted a non-original part could they let me know if they have had problems.
Many thanks

Hi I fitted mine a few months or so ago.  Mine was from eBay and about £40 if I remember rightly and seems fine.  Was gutted though as airbag light stayed on and eventually had to get a tech to look at it after I played with it and tried my scanner.  It was the plug that sat on the airbag that he reckons I may have damaged so had to have the loom replaced :-( win some you loose some but still don't regret fitting it.

Hi, I have just fixed my door carrier, bought one on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190994616402? ... 1439.l2648, was all good except when putting the bolt back in to fix the lock back on to the door handle, I had to elongate the hole with a drill bit, took no time at all, £33 sorted

Thanks Guys,

I have ordered this as well - very fast (next day) free delivery and only £33. I will try not to set the record for the slowest door handle carrier fit on the forum!:

I just greased mine up when it went on my 4.6. It lasted a year until I did the car.

Just to update the post this arrived and looks EXACTLY like the REALOEM part. It is manufactured by Febi Bilstein and has the REALOEM part number on the box. It certainly looks and feels like the REAL McCoy!
