Warranty Direct-Any good?

Got a reasonable quote from Warranty Direct today, are they any good, anyone got experience of them?

My experience with BMW AUC warranty is pretty poor to date so open to to other options

Yes.  Paid for my gearbox repair a few years back.  Cost me £125 and them more than £3k...

The only things you need to watch is that diagnosis is not covered, they have a 30% charge plus a £50 'admin fee' if you cancel, and not everything is covered so read the fine print.

I have the BMW extended warranty on my X6.  As I had the car from new I kept it going.  BMW never offered me an extended on the X5 which is why I bought WD.  It's more expensive but it seems to cover a lot more.

Looking through it, it's a bit worrying that it seems the sunroof is one item excluded, mine has the panoramic that has a history of failing

In my experience the WD policies and such like exclude various items that can be expensive such as nav units, ICE, and some expensive modules. I have taken BMW warranty on both my 335i and X5 as they just cover virtually everything and with no arguing and haggling over claims. The 335i just had all new fuel pressure sensors, high pressure fuel pump and IBS. The pump would been covered by WD but the IBS would not so that's most of the cost of warranty with BMW recouped already just in the IBS....

I think that with these cheaper policies its just pot luck, if you have a main failure that's covered like gearbox, fuel pump, ECU etc then you will be covered for the most part but if you have something that's not covered or a bit of a grey area then you are more likely to find yourself arguing with them trying to wriggle out of paying...

If you get a quote from them, give it a couple of days, they will phone you and offer 25% off.
Give it a few more days, and it gets less and less.

I have a WD policy and so far been great. They have covered everything inc sat nav etc etc and wear and tear from day one. I paid an additional £70 for the vehicle check to have wear and tear from day 1 instead of day 90. So far i have claimed for 2 x front calipers from bmw. 1 x aircompressor for aircon at £1600 and now jyst claimed front suspension bushes.
