Saying hello from the northwest

Post by geoffwa3 » Thu Mar 13, 2014 7:19 pm

Hi everyone,

Geoff here from the Wirral (near liverppol)

Just about to take ownership of my first X5 E53 after having owned a 530i m sport and quite excited!
Gone for the X5 as my beloved has recently passed her test and wanted something a bit bigger and safer for her and the kids without compromising the ride too much.

Its a 2005 3.0d sport in black with tan leather and light poplar wood trim, a nice combination in my opinion,
77k with good history and a rare manual box.

Had been doing a bit of research on here before I took the plunge, love this forum.... so much knowledge, help and advice.

There's a decent independent BMW specialist near me called Trenics over near Chester but any other recommendations/advice will be gratefully appreciated.

Reckon I'll be having a remap done in the near future but want to drive it as is for a short while first to appreciate the difference. Seems like Jason is the man from Chiptune, anyone had it done up this way?
Anyone had it done with a manual box?
Be good to hear how it performs, I've read the feedback from the guys with auto boxes which seems to get rid of the dredded lag along with much more responsive acceleration.

Well welcome along and good luck with it all.  X5's are a nice place to sit inside.  Enjoy!
