Being a bloke

Post by bullethead » Sat Dec 04, 2010 3:15 pm

Well being a bloke I finally read the owners manual. Well not all of it, I just skimmed like we do ;) So does anyone have a seat belt warning ? I don't, don't want 1 either, was just curious :?

I read the manual what with me being a woman :-). I though we all had seat belt warnings in our X's unless they have been specifically taken off.

Definitely got one in mine. Comes up on the check control if I move off without a seatbelt on. Chime and warning text.

Of course, being an engineer, I would never admit to having read the manual even if I knew where it was...... :D

I tend to read manuals as well, being a woman, so also thought the Xes came with seat belt warnings - not just if you don't fasten up when driving, but if the pressure sensor on the passenger seat is activated by books or stuff ........... :stir: :stir:

My old early E53 did not have the seat belt warnings, maybe it's one of those things that came with time.

My 2004 has them. It even goes off if I leave a laptop in the passenger seat!

I think the pre-facelift didn't have them and is the difference between that car getting only a 4 star safety rating and the post-facelift getting a 5 star rating. :o

Saw mention of it when skimming and thought "phew" aint got that annoying crap in here. No lights on dash, no irritating bongs, beeps, chirps. Not that I ever drive without a seatbelt on of course ;) . Just drove her indoors car and it gets the proper ump if you drive off without it, and gets louder and more annoying as you go faster.
Just had another look in the manual and apparently it should have 2002 dated manual, page 47 "Fasten seat belts" warning light comes on for several seconds, or until the Seat belts are fastened."
Oh well not gonna look for why it aint working :D

Not an issue for me as I always clunk and click before setting off... however it is useful when you have someone in the passenger seat who doesn't usually wear a seatbelt as you have a good reason to tell them to put it on - to shut the noise up! My dad often drives, sits in a car without a seatbelt but not in mine!

Always wondered what those paper booklet things were that came with stuff. :scratchhead:

Seatbelt warning does go bong when you drive off without a belt on......does go off after a while.

Not as annoying as a mates Mazda6 that does it with passengers in the back too

Fair enough - but as the driver you are responsible for any fine and to be honest, I don't let anyone be a passenger in the car if they don't have their belts on.

Doesn't work or I don't have one (2002).
