Black kidney grills with Titanium slats.

Post by martin33100 » Fri Feb 28, 2014 2:56 pm

Hi, I have just seen a nice black X6 with black kidney grills but the slats were silver, has anyone seen this before? or do you think its home made.
I know you can remove the slats for painting on the oem grills, are the mat black ones the same? as I could buy a pair of mat blacks and paint the slats silver if this was the case.

Could be 'Performance Grills' which have had the slats changed?  I think they are held in place by the outer (black) trim clipping to the slats through the bonnet metalwork, at least that's how our 3 series ones are fitted. It's weeing down here so not going to have a look at present...

There may a trim option now with black surround and silver/titanium slats?  If not then a home brew of two sets or spray job.

The X6 did look nice, the only reason I wasn't going to go completely black was our E70 has the lower front grills in Titanium and it may look odd. It may be a nice compromise if I can get or make something up with the black outer and Tianium slats.

Its no issue spraying the original matt black plastic grills silver.  I had mine done today and took them off the car for the Garage as they asked.  Its easy, start with clips on the sides of the grills first then work around.
