a pre facelift X5 does not have angel eyes.  Therefore will be Facelift model.  Regarding tacky, I wouldn't say the originals are tacky.  Neon blue is tacky.  Yellow just dated. :)

These look like a bargain upgrade to me.

Are they a pain to fit??

No, open bonnet, remove rear cover, unplug old bulb and twist out, fit new bulb and plug in, refit cover, repeat on other side, close bonnet stand back and admire.

Can I buy a bulb for the main lights that will also give me the "blue" light effect? ?

Bugger...

Tried to fit them and the connector is wrong... Also more wiring on the pre existing bulbs so I have no idea what I need now!! Mine is an early facelift built in Nov 2003

I have now pulled my thumb from betwixt my arse cheeks and I have fitted the bulbs correctly!

I had just assumed that the bit of wire the bulbs came with would need to be included somewhere... My mistake!!

It makes an awesome difference IMO and is a cheap and easy mod. :)
